During the day, I juggle work, family, the chaos of homework for my twins, and dog leashes, but in every spare moment, I escape to worlds where mysterious lakeside houses whisper, artists lurk in the shadows, and heroines learn that love can sometimes be the most beautiful—and the most dangerous—thing of all.
My name is Katharina Taubert—author, graphic designer, and photographer. Creativity is my calling, whether I’m at my desk, behind the camera, or with a pencil and sketchpad. In my own photo studio, I create portraits, lingerie shots, family photos, and baby photos that capture stories, and I love photographing outdoors in nature just as much, where real life and emotions come alive. This love for the visual also shapes my novels: I write scenes as if I were viewing them through a lens—rich in detail, atmospheric, full of light and shadow.
My stories blend romance, suspense, and psychology. I love pushing characters to their limits and letting them discover just how strong they really are. Along the way, there’s tension, doubt, laughter, and tears—everything that makes life what it is. And because life is never just dark or light, but always somewhere in between, it’s precisely those in-betweens that are my favorite playground.
When I’m not writing, I try to navigate the chaos of school life with my twins—which is sometimes almost more exciting than any plot twist. Our dog Luke makes sure I get out into the woods regularly, where my best ideas come to me. TV shows with cliffhangers are a must-watch for me: the more suspenseful, the better—and the more surprising the twist, the more I love it. Music that tells stories without needing a single word is the perfect companion for me.
Oh, and coffee. Nothing works without coffee—though these days I only drink decaf. Because as much as I love my stories, I really need to start taking care of my health 😉
For me, humor is just as much a part of it as depth—I firmly believe that it’s okay to laugh even at life’s serious matters. So anyone who reads my books will always find both: heart-pounding excitement and food for thought, darkness and light.
